Interview 34

10 August 2018

1. Do your characters seem to hijack the story or do you feel like you have the reigns of the story?
They wouldn’t dare hijack the story; I rule them with an iron fist! More seriously, I outline everything before I start writing so that doesn’t leave much room to improvisation. Sometimes a few new ideas come along the way, but all the major plot points are already defined. And because I always write series, I have to be mindful of the larger story arcs I plotted.

2. Convince us why you feel your book is a must read.
It’s a good book for fans of Urban Fantasy mysteries. It draws inspiration from the many mythologies that exists. Did you know there are hundreds of those? Now think about it, what if all these legends were true, what if all those monsters and gods were real? Well, that’s the world Bellamy Vale lives in.

3. Have you written any other books that are not published?
Yes, I have an unfinished trilogy. That was my first attempt at writing a novel and I made the mistake of writing as ideas came without outlining anything. Books one and two are finished, but three of four chapters into the third volume, I realized the ending I had in mind was very weak and I didn’t like it anymore and … voilà. The whole thing’s been sleeping on my hard drive for the past ten years.

4. Pen or type writer or computer?
Computer, definitely. And everything’s in the clouds, so I can access the files from different devices/locations.

5. Anything you would like to say to your readers and fans?
On my website, I have two prequel novellas that you can download for free. “Redemption Road” is a prequel to the Vale Investigation series—it’s the story of Vale and Death’s first encounter.

The second is “Personal Favour” and that one is set in my series of cozy mysteries The Neve & Egan Cases.
